Melissa Li (she/her) and Kit Yan (they/she/he) are an acclaimed, award-winning writing team for the stage and screen, working together for over 15 years. They specialize in subversive comedies and emotionally-intimate dramas, balancing Melissa's love for dark crime thrillers with Kit's for heart-warming family stories.

Their combined honors are extensive, including the Helen Merrill Award (2023), the ASCAP Harold Adamson Lyric Award (2022), the Kleban Prize (2021), and two Jonathan Larson Grants (2007, 2022). They were also resident artists at Lincoln Center and fellows at Macdowell and the Dramatists Guild Foundation, among others.

They are best known for their full-length musicals, INTERSTATE (most recently at East West Players) and MISS STEP (working towards an off-Broadway production). For the screen, they have sold a feature to Disney Channel, have an original drama in development with Archer Gray, and are alumni of The Black List x WIF Episodic Lab 2025.
