
Fredrick Leach
Fredrick Leach pulls from his experiences growing up bi-racial in Texas to tell stories about misfits discovering their power. He moved to LA in 2015 after spending time as an 8th-grade history teacher via Teach For America. In 2019, he wrote and directed his first feature, Caged Birds, which debuted at the Pan African Film Festival in 2021 and won the jury prize for Best First Feature. It would go on to be nominated for awards at the Dallas International and Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festivals. It’s currently streaming on Amazon Prime, Google Play, and Tubi. In 2022, Fred was selected as the inaugural Black List x Sony Pictures Animation Writing Fellow, granting him 6 months as an in-house writer for SPA. Currently, Fred is writing a coming-of-age comedy for Tubi, slated for release in 2026. Fred is repped by Echo Lake and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein & Lezcano.
